What can we expect during an Ayurvedic massage?

In Ayurveda, there are many specific treatments dedicated to each part of the body. They are mainly divided into treatments called anga-abhyanga or partial (which cover only part of the body) and sarvanga-abhyanga or complete (which covers the whole body).

The logic of Ayurvedic treatment aims to rebalance the three Doshas which, when disturbed, occur at all levels: physical, mental and emotional.

Massage treatments can be relaxing, rebalancing or energizing and vitalizing. They act on the lymphatic system (purify the body of toxins by the lymphatic system) and on the muscular and circulatory system. They detoxify the body and the mind, relieve stress. Psychophysical well-being is improved.

Improvements that can be expected after treatment include a decrease in sleep disturbances, states of fear and anxiety, heat attacks, as well as a decrease in tension, muscle tension, joint aches or pain. Massage also acts on mental hyperactivity, memory problems and digestion problems.

I work mainly with hot vegetable oils which nourish the skin and act where the body needs their specific substances. For face and head massages, oils are used at room temperature and help maintain the suppleness and beauty of the hair and, to oxygenate the scalp. The massage allows complete relaxation and recurring mental thoughts are calmed.

Ayurvedic vegetable oils are adapted to the type of person and the season. According to the treatments I use powders or pastes. I also take into consideration the time of the massage, because some massages cannot be given at the end of the afternoon and others are not given in the morning.

During the first visit, we will establish a personalized Ayurvedic assessment together to define the most suitable treatment. On the other hand a classic anamnesis helps to adapt the movement of the massage, allows to take into account the blood pressure and possible pain. It also makes it possible to make sure that there is no contraindication to massage.

I offer traditional Ayurvedic treatments complete and partial, as well as Ayurvedic massage treatments according to the Wandering Monks tradition. I also offer therapeutic advice (nutrition and healthy living) according to Ayurvedic principles.

According to the Ayurvedic tradition of Wandering Monks it is important to stay at rest after the massage. For a treatment it is good to take time for yourself, so it would be beneficial to plan 1h30 to 2h for everything.

Specific treatments located on a part of the body can be carried out as needed.
